She sat in the parking lot for eleven minutes. You already know that part.

Here is what she said afterward, and it is the reason this page exists. She said she had not been avoiding the camera. She had been waiting to become the version of herself who was allowed in front of it — thinner, calmer, further along, further healed.

Six years of that. And the woman she was waiting for never showed up, because every time she got close, the requirement moved.

Women in Central Ohio who have come through a hard few years: a full studio session in the next thirty days

  • We direct you through every minute of it, so you never again have to say you hate every picture of yourself

  • You will not have to know how to pose. We tell you what to do with your hands.

  • You will not have to buy anything to leave having chosen a finished print

  • You will not have to bring anything, or plan anything, or decide anything

  • And you can stop waiting until you lose the weight

  • Your appointment is held with a $99 reservation deposit. It is not a fee and we never spend it — when you come back to see your images, you either put it toward what you order or take it back.

Take The First Step

Appointments are limited by studio capacity, not by marketing.

What The Afternoon Looks Like

Three Hours. You Make No Decisions.

1 · Sixty minutes in Carole's chair
Professional makeup and lashes, done properly, by someone who does this all day. Most women tell us the mirror is the first surprise of the day — and that is before a single frame is taken.
2 · Sixty minutes of being directed
Forty-five to fifty images of you, and in every one of them somebody is telling you where to look, what to do with your hands, when to drop your shoulders, when to breathe. There is no moment where you are left to work it out yourself.
3 · You choose your print before you leave
You pick the one you want that same day. It is professionally printed rather than run off a machine in the corner, so it reaches you within ten days.
4 · You see everything within a day or two
Most women come back to view their full set as early as the next day, whenever we have the appointment. If you are driving in from outside Central Ohio, tell us and we will show you the same day so you are not making the trip twice.

Every bad photograph of you failed for a mechanical reason. None of them are you.

01

Light from below

A phone at arm's length, at chest height, under a kitchen bulb, puts every shadow on your face in the one direction human faces are never lit from. That is not an unflattering angle. It is an impossible one.

02

"Smile" is not an instruction

It is a request that you solve the problem yourself, in front of a stranger, in four minutes, with no experience. Of course it came out like that.

03

Nine frames is not a session

Nine is a sample too small to contain a good one. We take forty-five to fifty, with direction in every one, because being human on camera needs room to happen.

You were never being asked to be photogenic. You were being asked to direct yourself, which is not something anyone can do. Every woman you have ever envied in a photograph had somebody standing beside the camera telling her exactly what to do.

Most women have never been photographed by a professional. They think they have.

A nice camera is not the thing

The camera has almost nothing to do with it. What makes an image beautiful is somebody who knows where to put the light, how deep to let the shadow go, and what that does to your particular face and your particular body. That takes years, and there is never a point where there is nothing left to learn.

Light and shadow are the whole craft

Flattering light is not luck and it is not a setting. It is a decision made about your jawline, your shoulders, your eyes, before you sit down. Done properly, you do not notice it at all — you just look like yourself on a good day.

Editing is not filters

A filter is applied to everything at once and takes you with it. Editing is done image by image, and its job is to remove distractions, not to change your face. You should still recognise the woman in the picture. That is the point of her.

Studio lighting and natural light are both tools

We use both, and we choose based on you and on the day rather than on which one we happen to be able to operate. A studio that only ever shoots in one kind of light is telling you something about its range.

None of this is a criticism of the friend who took your pictures at the park. She meant well and she probably did her best. It is only to say that what happened there was not the same job, and the results were never going to be the same either

Everyone in the building is a woman

The studio was founded by Kent Smith, and his name is still on some of the history. He retired long ago and I bought the practice from him.

Since then it has been women only. Carole does your makeup, I photograph you, and a woman shows you your images afterward. If part of what has stopped you is not wanting to undress, or be looked at, or be told to relax by a man you have never met — that is not a thing that happens here.

Nobody Spends An Afternoon Here
Just For A Photograph.

They arrive to hold time still. To craft a tangible artifact of who they are in this exact season, before the moment slips quietly into memory. This is about preserving legacy, uncovering genuine emotion, and finally seeing your own authentic grace reflected back to you.

What they said afterward

"Highly recommend this"

"I was scared, nervous, and contemplated not walking in.  From the moment I entered the building, being greeted with lots of smiles, to makeup, and until the very last picture… I felt beautiful, relaxed, confident and excited!  I went out on a limb and did the shoot because I had won it, and am so happy I went out of my comfort zone!  To any lady who needs that confidence boost or just wants to take a leap and try something new… do the shoot! You won’t regret it and will see yourself in a whole new way.   These ladies do amazing work and make you feel so comfortable!"

-Amanda

"Best gift I could ever given myself"

"Every day I show up as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee… all the different versions of me that other people know and need.  But this experience gave me the chance to tap into me.  Not who others want me to be or expect me to be, but who I am, what I love about myself, and how I want to see and express myself. Getting these photos back and seeing myself through that lens was the reminder I didn’t even realize I needed.

Before all the roles I play and all the things I am to everyone else, I’m Kayla first.  And in order to be the best version of myself as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and everything in between, I need to make space for her, too.

To love her.  Respect her.  Empower her.  And never lose that confidence in who she is."

- Kayla

"Changed my life"

"I was in a low place in my life after losing my sweet dad. Grief was consuming me. I would've never done this without the push from my sweet friend Sherri . I had no idea what to expect, but needed something to make me feel like the girl I used to be. I always felt awkward and I never felt sexy. From the moment I arrived I felt special, like I was the only person that mattered. I loved every moment of it. To my hair and makeup to the guidance I was given from the photographer. I couldn't believe how much fun I was having and actually dreaded for it to be over. When I came back to view my pictures, I thought I'd like a couple but I was so wrong. I LOVED all of them and began to cry. I found that girl that I had missed for so long and said goodbye to that depressed and grieving girl that consumed me for so long. This photoshoot changed my life and I'll always be forever grateful for the experience."

- Teri

"Felt 55 going on 30"

"It was hard to pick just one favorite! I had done this shoot 5 years ago because I had won a free shoot. Since then, I lost 75 pounds so when they did the contest again I commented and got a second shot! This time I even made a book for my husband to celebrate our 28th anniversary. Thank you ladies! I felt 55 going on 30 and had so much fun!"

What it Costs

The session, the makeup and lashes, and your finished print are complimentary.

Your appointment is held with a $99 reservation deposit. It is not a fee and it is not spent — we hold it until you come back to see your images, and at that point it is yours to do either thing with. Most women put it toward what they order. Some take it back and leave with only their free print, and that is genuinely fine

We ask for it because the calendar is real and the appointments are real. If you come in, the session cost you nothing. If you do not, it did.

Collections of additional images are available afterward, starting at $800. Nobody will ask you to decide anything on the day you are photographed, and there is no obligation to buy a thing.

CLARITY BEFORE YOU COMMIT

The Questions Everyone Asks

It is completely natural to have reservations before stepping in front of a camera. Here are the most common thoughts clients share with us, and what you can expect from our time together.

What is the catch?

There isn't one. We give the session away the same way a consultant gives away the first hour because the work speaks for itself and most women want more images once they have seen them. If you do not, you still leave having chosen a finished print.

Is the $99 really refundable?

Yes. We hold it, we do not spend it, and when you come back to view your images you either apply it to an order or take it back. It exists to hold the calendar, not to make money.

Will a man be photographing me?

No. The studio is all female Carole does your makeup and I take the photographs. The studio was founded by Kent Smith years ago and his name is still attached to some of its history, but he has been retired a long time and I own it now.

How is this different from my friend with the nice camera?

The camera is not what makes an image good. Light, shadow, direction, and real editing rather than a filter are what make an image good, and those take years to learn. Read the section above.

Is This For You?

We believe in transparency. Our studio is dedicated to a specific style of editorial portraiture, and we want to ensure our approach aligns with your expectations.

Do Not Book If

You are looking for a rushed, in-and-out photography session or prioritizing the cheapest option available over a crafted, high-end experience. Our process takes time, patience, and a deep appreciation for the art of portraiture. If you prefer high-volume, generic photography studios, our approach will not be the right fit.

Book If

You desire a thoughtfully guided, unhurried portrait session. You view high-end photography as an investment in yourself and want a final gallery of images that feel timeless, authentic, and truly yours. We thrive working with clients who trust our artistic vision and want to collaborate on creating something meaningful.
